New owner. Time for a new logo, new website, and comprehensive style guide.

This local Iowa business owner recently purchased this car dealership from the founder. What better time to give it a fresh coat of paint? We were hired on as the main digital and branding consultant.

Original Branding:

Step 1: Learn the requirements.

The original logo was a greyscale design that was quite dated, with a font that clashed with the main sign.

After a few calls with the owner- we were able to determine a few things.

It was important to maintain some semblance of the original logo as legacy, but also bringing a more modern/vintage/retro feel that people would like to look at.

The color theme should have a "european" feel to it, with consistent font choices for brand recognition.

Step 2: Draft some concepts

The logo below was a huge inspiration- it added the mechanic feel with an "old timey" shop vibe which was important to the owner.

We settled on a combination of the Volvo colors along with some other Euro feel mixed in.

The sample logos were well received- and it was time to put it all together.

Step 3: Approvals and Finalization

When it was all said and done, we provided the client with the following deliverables:

  • A cohesive design style guide so he could use these colors on future works. Same with the font choices

  • Logo art source files

  • A functioning website with inventory starmotorsic.com

Here's how it turned out. The owner loves it and has a lot of positive feedback. A very rewarding project!
